Skin undergoes changes with the passage of time. Whilst an unhealthy lifestyle, an unbalanced diet and cigarette smoking affect the skin’s appearance and quality, approximately 80% of facial skin ageing is attributed to UV exposure, leading to excessive oxidants (free radicals) and a progressive loss of hydration. Just like an apple that dries, skin that is deprived of its sources of hydration will lose its shine with the passage of time. At the age of 35, the skin’s thickness and hydration has decreased on average by about 22%. This is where injectable hydrators can help.

What can injectable hydration achieve?

The main ingredient in the injectable skin hydrators that are currently available in Australia is a purified version of hyaluronic acid – a naturally-occurring molecule that is often used in skin moisturising creams. However, this molecule itself is too large to travel through the skin without help. So when it is applied to the surface as a serum or a cream, it plumps up the outermost layer of skin, but does very little to help the lower skin layers. Delivering hydration directly to the dermis, offers a long-lasting solution for dry, dull skin.

SkinBox Clinics offer two different types of injectable skin treatments.

You can opt for pure hydration, or mix it up a little with a personalised skin-health cocktail to fortify the dermis or reduce trapped pigmentation.

Tap into our medical expertise

We understand that the world of aesthetics and cosmetic treatments can be intimidating, that’s why our cosmetic doctors and qualified dermal therapists are here.

To share our medical knowledge.
To help you look and feel your best.

Using a cocktail of Mesoestetic® professional pharmaceutical grade actives, with the option of additional anti-wrinkle ingredients, we can tailor make you a bespoke treatment that is perfect for your individual skin concerns. We prefer to deliver this treatment precisely and efficiently via an automatic multi-needle delivery system (V2 injector). This enables you to benefit from the collagen-inducing stimulation of dermal needling as well as the functional effects of the active ingredients, but is more effective than simply rubbing ingredients onto the skin after traditional dermal needling.

The effects of a mesotherapy treatment can be seen quickly, and in some cases by the following day, depending upon the ingredients chosen. Results typically last about 4-6 weeks. Treatments can be done as often as monthly, or just when you need that extra boost.

NOTE:
Injectable skin treatments are quick, precise and effective. There is minimal pain or discomfort and minimal downtime.

FAQ’s about mesotherapy

When and where can injectable skin treatments be used?

These products can be used over the face, neck, décolletage and hands. They can be used:
Regularly as a core treatment to slow down cutaneous ageing.
Alternating with or as a complement to other treatments.
On specific chosen occasions to rehydrate and give a new glow to your skin – for example, before/after prolonged sun exposure)
To rapidly treat excessive pigmentation in the upper layers of the skin
For specific facial areas, such as “smokers lines”

How do I know whether an injectable skin treatment is right for me?

Prior to your first treatment session, you will need a consultation with one of our Dermal Therapists to check that this is the most suitable treatment to address your needs. We will be able to give you an personalised schedule and accurate price for the treatment at this consultation.

What happens during a V2 injector treatment session?

Injectable hydration treatments using the automatic multi-needle device are performed by our expert Dermal Therapists. In some cases an exfoliation treatment such as a microdermabrasion will be performed prior to treatment.

Local anaesthetic cream is then applied (if required) and left on the skin for 5-10 minutes. After disinfecting the treatment areas, your personalised cocktail of active ingredients is delivered using the V2 injecting device. This device works by applying suction to the skin prior to every injection and then precisely and accurately delivering the product through very fine needles as a series of tiny intradermal microinjections.

The treatment session lasts 20-30 minutes depending upon the areas treated.

What are the benefits of the V2 Injector device?

Our injectable skin treatments are either delivered to the skin manually through a very thin needle, or by using an automated needling device. The Mesoestetic® products can also be applied directly to the skin after traditional dermal needling and allowed to soak in, although we feel that this is less effective. The V2 injector device allows us to deliver tiny micro-injections of active ingredients accurately and efficiently. The treatment is completely customisable as both the depth of injection and amount of product can be tailored and programmed for different parts of the face.

The device works by applying inbuilt suction to the skin prior to every injection, which decreases the sensation and the vascularity in the area. This not only improves comfort and reduces downtime but creates a uniform treatment due to the accuracy of the depth delivery. The V2 injector device employs multi-needles, with each injection using 9 delivery points (this sounds scarier than it is: using multi-needles increases the speed of the procedure and decreases the sensation relative to single needles as the brain can not perceive the multiple points, i.e. 9 tiny micro-needles at once feels the same as 1 single needle).

For an entire face treatment, approximately 1000 delivery points are used, giving us the equivalent of a full-face dermal needling treatment for collagen induction, PLUS the added benefit of the actual product being delivered directly to the dermis.

Are injectable skin treatments painful?

Both the automated device and manual injection are very comfortable procedures. The micro-injections contain local anaesthetic, are shallow and performed with very fine needles. We also use a topical local anaesthetic (numbing) cream prior to the treatment to further enhance comfort levels. The use of the V2 injector device makes the procedure even easier for our patients as the suction from the device decreases the sensation in the area and by using multi-needles we can increase the speed of the procedure whilst decreasing the sensation relative to single needles (the body can not perceive the difference between 9 simultaneous tiny injections and only a single one).

Is there any downtime with Mesotherapy?

A few small red marks may appear at some of the injection sites, which disappear quickly after injection. Some people will have no bruising post treatment; others, particularly with very fragile skin, will experience bruising and blotchiness post treatment that can take a few days to settle. You should be able to return to normal daily activities immediately, although we prefer you not to apply make up for 12 hours.
If you have a special event coming up, we recommend that injectable skin treatments should be administered 5-7 days prior to the event.

Are Mesotherapy results immediate?

A change in the skin quality can be seen shortly after the first session. The skin has a better colour, is less creased, better hydrated and becomes more supple. Gradually, from one session to the next, the complexion looks increasingly radiant and the skin becomes firmer.
