PDO Threads

A minimally-invasive, customisable approach to collagen induction to tighten and rejuvenate skin

PDO Mono Threads

Matrix PDO Threads are inserted just beneath the skin, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads become a support structure for the skin above them, allowing collagen production to increase, with a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.

The threads are absorbed by the body over time. They are minimally invasive and can also be used multiple times.

FAQs about PDO mono threads

What are Matrix® PDO threads made of?

Matrix® PDO mono threads are made from Polydioxanone – an absorbable polymer. This material is both flexible and durable. The threads are thin and smooth, without barbs or cones.

The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing collagen production to increase. Overtime, the threads are absorbed by the body.

How do they tighten the skin?

They induce natural collagen production, which creates a tightening effect. This effect lasts for 6-12 months.

When will I see results from PDO threads?

Results may be seen in 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2 to 6 months. While the threads slowly dissolve, their effects may last up to 12 months. Results vary, depending upon lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, sun-exposure, exercise etc. It is recommended to have another Matrix® PDO thread treatment after 6 months, to maintain the tightening effect.

Does the procedure hurt?

Topical anaesthetic cream will be applied before your treatment, so that you experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. You may experience a feeling of firmness in the treatment area for a few days after the procedure.

How are the PDO threads inserted?

The PDO Threads are inserted using a micro-needle or a cannula. There is no incision and subsequently, no stitches required.

How long does the procedure take?

The time of the treatment will vary based on factors such as the size of the area being treated, but will typically take 30-60 minutes.

Is there any downtime?

A Matrix® PDO thread treatment may produce some swelling and/or bruising in the treatment area, which will subside within a few days. You should schedule your procedure at least a week before any important social event or special occasion.

How can I arrange a treatment?

A PDO mono thread treatment is customised for your individual needs and therefore an initial consultation with one of our doctors is essential prior to the procedure. Both Dr. Boxley & Dr. Daly perform this treatment. You can book an initial consultation online. If you have already discussed this treatment with our doctors, you can make a treatment appointment by contacting the clinic directly via phone, web-text via our website, or via email.

How much does a Matrix® PDO mono thread treatment cost?

The cost of a treatment varies depending upon the type and number of threads to be used. You will be given a quote at your initial appointment with our doctor. Costs start from $450 per facial area.
