- Would you like to control your sweat without harsh chemicals?
More than 5% of the population experience excessive underarm sweating. The medical term for this is axillary hyperhidrosis. Underarm sweat and odour can be a daily struggle that interferes with nearly every aspect of life, affecting emotional well-being and self image. Underarm sweat can lead to anxiety at work, or embarrassment in relationships and social settings. It can be frustrating having to wear clothes that hide your sweat, or continually throwing away clothes that have been ruined. This is where miraDry® Sweat Treatment can help you.
And it is not just for people with medically diagnosed hyperhidrosis. MiraDry® is now becoming increasingly popular as a lifestyle choice. Many of our patients are concerned about the use of harsh chemicals in modern antiperspirants, or are simply excited to have a one-off treatment with permanent results.
In 2020, miraDry® also became an approved treatment for underarm odour (medically known as “bromhidrosis”) and for hair reduction. Unlike laser and IPL hair reduction technology, miraDry® is not attracted to the pigment in the hair and so can be effective on hair of all colours.

FAQ’s about miraDry® Sweat Treatment in Perth
What is the miraDry procedure?
The miraDry sweat treatment procedure is quick, non-invasive and provides a lasting solution for underarm sweat. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. The handpiece from the miraDry System, when placed on the underarm, delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the sweat glands reside and removes sweat glands non-invasively. The sweat glands don’t grow back once eliminated, resulting in a dramatic and lasting reduction of underarm sweat.
What is the sweat treatment procedure like?
The procedure involves no surgical incisions or cuts. Local anesthesia is painlessly administered to the underarms prior to the procedure to maintain comfort. We shall customise the treatment for each underarm area with multiple placements of the miraDry® handpiece. A treatment will generally take about an hour during which time you can lie back, relax and watch television or listen to music. Two procedures spaced three months apart are recommended to maximize the results and duration, although some patients with a lower level of original sweating will only require one treatment.
What happens after the miraDry procedure?
Most patients report a dramatic reduction of their sweat – in the original clinical study, the average sweat reduction was 86% after 2 treatments. You should see a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person..
Don’t I need my underarm sweat glands?
Your body contains over 4 million sweat glands, with only about 2% located in the underarms. Eliminating this 2% will not affect the body’s ability to cool itself..
How is the miraDry® procedure different from other sweat treatment options?
Other sweat treatment options are designed to temporarily disable the sweat glands, or involve surgery which contains inherent risks. Only the miraDry procedure provides a lasting solution with a non-invasive treatment.
How much does miraDry® cost?
An initial consultation is necessary with one of our doctors, to ensure that this is a suitable procedure for you. This consultation costs $260 and a Medicare rebate is available if eligible.
The cost of the miraDry® procedure varies depending upon the surface area to be treated. The RRP for this treatment is $2500-3600. Exact costs will be given at your consultation.
