How does AviClear® work?
AviClear® uses the power of light to target acne at the source. This laser treatment uses a 1726-nm wavelength to selectively target and down regulate the sebaceous glands. The overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands is one of the leading causes of acne.
How many treatments are recommended?
The AviClear® treatment protocols recommend three, 30-minute treatment sessions spaced one month apart to achieve optimal results.
When can results be seen?**
The timing of when visible improvements can be noticed will vary between patients. In a clinical study of 104 patients who received a series of three AviClear® treatments, it was observed that 80 % of patients had at least half of their acne resolved at three months after their final treatment. At six and twelve months after the final treatment, this figure rose to 87% and then to 92%.

Who is a good candidate for AviClear® treatment?
AviClear® is suitable for adolescents and adult patients with mild, moderate or severe acne. AviClear® is not a treatment that can be used to prevent acne.
We can use Aviclear® to treat hormonal and non-hormonal acne, either alone or in combination with other acne treatments.

What does the treatment feel like?
The AviClear® treatment experience can vary by patient. Topical numbing cream is not usually needed for the treatment. AviClearR is a laser that is equipped with exclusive AviCool™ sapphire skin cooling and sensory control for a safe, effective, and tolerable treatment experience. Can I have AviClear® at the same time as other acne treatments?
Absolutely! We will always recommend optimising your skincare to suit the clinical condition of your skin, as well as your lifestyle and budget. There are a number of prescription medications and other in-clinic treatments that can be used in conjunction with AviClear® to gain maximum results in as quick a time period as possible.

Does Aviclear® have any side effects?
Side-effects are minimal and transient. Most patients will experience some redness and swelling of the treated area, which resolves within a hour. A small number of patients feel their skin is dry and slightly itchy for a short time after treatment, which can be easily managed with skincare adjustments.
Clinical trials show that Aviclear® does not cause scarring or hyperpigmentation.
Some patients will experience a small flare-up of their acne after treatment, which is most likely with the first session, and can be managed by your team here at SkinBox.
