Using Emcyte® plasma therapy to treat hair loss
Some of the cells in our blood contain peptides called growth factors, and we can separate and collect these cells. Think of it as a redistribution of your own body’s resources. Blood is taken from your arm in the same way as having a blood test, and then processed using a high-quality medical-grade centrifuge from Emcyte® to separate the plasma and collect a natural solution containing highly concentrated numbers of cells, multiple times higher than exists in normal circulation blood. The cell yield using Emcyte® is 14million/mL, which is 7 x higher than other commercially available systems.
This solution of your own plasma cells is the sterilely injected into the scalp skin, where it enhances hair growth by stimulating inactive dormant follicles, and increasing blood and nutrient including the growth duration of the hair follicles. The injected cells have natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which makes this treatment particularly suitable for scalp administration.

Are injections to the scalp painful?
At SkinBox, we have a number of pain-relief methods for you to choose from. Typically, the skin is numbed with a high-strength anaesthetic ointment but we can also offer nerve blocks if required (additional costs apply).
What is the downtime?
After the procedure, any mild discomfort or headache can be effectively treated with a simple painkiller such as paracetamol. You can wash your hair after the procedure but we advise you to refrain from using conditioner and hair products for 24hours.
When will I see results?
Visible results for a typical hair regrowth treatment begin 3 months after the first initial treatment with a reduction in shedding and the appearance of re-growth. Each patient is individual and it is not possible to predict results.
How effective is Emcyte® treatment for hair loss?
Up to 83% of patients report improvement in fullness* following treatment. The aim of therapy is to slow or stop the progression of hair loss rather than to promote hair regrowth. However, some patients do experience hair regrowth with treatment. Results are variable, and it is not possible to predict who may or may not benefit from treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
This can be a stand-alone treatment but a minimum of 3 sessions of plasma treatment is advised, spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart, to achieve optimum results. Further maintenance treatments may be necessary depending on each individual, particular hair conditions and the desired outcome.
